The Sonny Balcones, swing jazz, sultry torch songs, soulful trad

The Sonny Balcones are a Toronto based jazz band that combine 30’s,40’s and 50’s swing with soft samba, french jazz and sultry torch songs. It is made up of members who all hail from Toronto and have been part of its lively jazz music community for many years. Their vintage vibe and swing sound fill dance floors at clubs and swing events throughout the city. With a sound that ranges from silly and quirky to soulful and sultry they pull in elements of old New Orleans jazz, swing era classics, soul and torch songs.

Outdoor events have been a great success for the band. People are drawn in by the energy. Crowds at places like St.James Park during their summer jazz series have been thrilled to hang out in the park on a summer night, watch the dancers and enjoy some rare and familiar tunes. They want you dancing and having fun, or falling in love, or both!

They have a vintage feel that is both quirky and romantic with their live shows having a comfort and familiarity as if an old friend has invited you into their livingroom while they tell you about all their (mis)adventures since you last met.
