Harry Vetro and Friends, Straight Ahead Jazz

Harry Vetro and Friends is a recurring monthly jazz series led by drummer and composer Harry Vetro. The project brings together some of the top young jazz musicians in the city for an evening of collaborative improvisation and creative musical conversation. Vetro is known for his work as a bandleader, composer, and performer in the Canadian jazz scene, and he has collaborated with respected artists across the country.

This month’s performance features a straight ahead jazz trio with electric guitar, upright bass, and drums. The ensemble will explore standards from the Great American Songbook, highlighting swing, lyricism, and the spontaneous interplay that defines the trio format. Each show offers a new combination of musical voices, making every performance its own unique experience.

Harry Vetro studied jazz at the University of Toronto and has led several acclaimed recording projects. His music blends a deep respect for jazz tradition with a modern sensibility shaped by influences from across Canada. The monthly series continues Vetro’s commitment to building community through live performance and showcasing emerging talent in contemporary jazz.
