Bios
Oscar Evans is a Canadian jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist from Kingston, Ontario specializing in upright bass and trumpet. Blinded in his adolescence, Oscar has gravitated toward learning multiple instruments as a medium for understanding music theory and musicianship.
Oscar studied Jazz Trumpet at Humber College from 2017-2020 and looks forward to coming back to Toronto with his ensemble of incredibly talented jazz musicians: Paul Morrison on piano, Nicholas Adema on trombone, Bobby Hsu on saxophone, Andy Love on drums. Oscar Evans will play double bass. In recent years, Oscar has spent his time focusing on his bass playing and composition.
Oscar consistently pushes his own boundaries to create interesting new music. In 2026 he will release two full-length records: one consisting of free jazz, and the other of original compositions. His latest song Nice Buddies (Live) is an original composition and an example of the very talented musicians Oscar has chosen to work with for this record.
You can find all of his new releases on Bandcamp. Follow him on Instagram @oscarmayfieldevans for information about upcoming live performances.
