Magda Baraczka is a fourth-year Jazz Voice student at the University of Toronto. Backing her up\, is a wonderful band comprised of Duncan Wilson on piano\, Hiro Tanaka on bass\, and Alex Sgrignoli on the drums. \nTaking influences from Betty Carter\, Carmen Mcrae\, and Lorez Alexandria\, Magda enjoys singing jazz standards with fresh and unique sound. DESCRIPTION:Harry Vetro and Friends\, Straight Ahead Jazz \nHarry Vetro and Friends is a recurring monthly jazz series led by drummer and composer Harry Vetro. The project brings together some of the top young jazz musicians in the city for an evening of collaborative improvisation and creative musical conversation. Vetro is known for his work as a bandleader\, composer\, and performer in the Canadian jazz scene\, and he has collaborated with respected artists across the country. \nThis month’s performance features a straight ahead jazz quartet with sax electric guitar\, upright bass\, and drums. The ensemble will explore standards from the Great American Songbook\, highlighting swing\, lyricism\, and the spontaneous interplay that defines the trio format.
