Rory Lynch’s Ordinary Life
Music style of influence:
Jazz/Indie Rock Fusion
“Rory Lynch is a guitarist, bandleader, composer, and educator based in Toronto, Canada. His
playing is rooted in the jazz tradition, and branches out to tap into elements of indie rock and Afrobeat. His debut EP, Moultet, was released in 2023 and features his quartet in a dynamic, exploratory musical adventure. As a freelancer, Rory has worked with a wide array of artists, including Larnell Lewis, Mark Dejong, Melissa Lauren, Julian Taylor, Ellen Froese, and the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra.
Originally from Saskatoon, Rory began his musical journey on the guitar before undergoing a
lengthy stint on the tenor saxophone. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in
2018, where he focused on jazz studies under the direction of Dean McNeill. In 2022, Rory
made the decision to step away from the saxophone in order to once again fully immerse
himself in the world of the guitar. Shortly after that, he moved to Toronto, where he now lives, performs, writes, and teaches music.”
