Jack Zorawski Trio, Mainstream jazz, combination of original material with American Song Book standards

Jack Zorawski Trio

The Jack Zorawski Trio brings together three seasoned musicians—Jack Zorawski on bass, Duncan Wilson on piano, and Kevin Coady on drums—for a rich and lyrical take on modern jazz. Deeply rooted in the tradition of the American Songbook, the trio performs original compositions that blend timeless melodic structures with nuanced rhythmic interplay and improvisational freedom.

A continuation of the ensemble that recorded First Train—Zorawski’s debut album that received positive press for its melodic clarity and compositional depth—the trio has been performing for over two decades in clubs and festivals across Ontario. With Duncan Wilson now at the piano, stepping into the role previously held by Richard Whiteman, the trio enters a new chapter marked by fresh perspectives and continued creative evolution.

Jack Zorawski is a respected figure in the Canadian jazz scene, known for his expressive tone, inventive lines, and deep commitment to ensemble playing. He has performed with a wide range of artists, including Alex Pengman, Red Hot Ramble, Big Rude Jake, and Michael Urbaniak. His leadership of the trio reflects both a reverence for jazz history and a commitment to original work.

Kevin Coady, a versatile and in-demand drummer, is known for his sensitive touch and finely tuned rhythmic instincts. His dynamic approach provides the trio with a responsive and steady pulse. Duncan Wilson, an accomplished pianist and improviser, brings a harmonic richness and melodic fluency that complements and elevates the group’s sound. Together, the trio has recently performed at several Toronto venues, including Terroni restaurants, offering intimate and engaging performances that speak to both tradition and innovation.
